The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) launches National Digital Library of India (NDLI) on the occasion of National Reading Day (observed 17 June) in New Delhi. NDLI aims to provide digital educational resources to empower, inspire and promote education for all citizens of the country.
National Digital Library of India (NDLI)
NDLI is a project of the HRD Ministry under the auspices of the National Mission for Education through Information. Communication Technology (NMEICT) to develop a virtual repository of education resources with a single-window search facility.
NDLI has been developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. It is a single window platform that collects and collects metadata from premier education institutions in India and abroad, as well as other related sources. It is open to all free of charge.
It is a 17 million plus digital repository of items from over 170 organizations plus 200 text languages in textbooks, articles, videos, audio deo books, lectures, simulations, fiction and all other types of learning media).
It is designed to hold the content of any language and provides education and research interface support for leading Indian languages. It has been arranged to provide support for all academic levels, including all faculty researchers and lifelong learners, and in all popular forms of popular access devices and also to differently-abled learners.
Shri Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development, today inaugurated HRD Ministry's new digital initiative 'National Digital Library of India', India Reading Day, New Delhi today. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that as we dedicate this digital library to the nation, a new era of digital India has begun. He said that the National Digital Library is a 24x7 ubiquitous knowledge resource accessible to anyone with access to the internet and it was created to enable the rise of digital India. The Minister said that anyone can access the digital library at any time and anywhere and will contribute greatly to the Government's commitment to "India everywhere India".
The Minister explained that NDLI is a digital library that makes quality education resources available to all learners and in more than 200 languages, there are 1.7 million content from over 160 sources and over 3 million users have been dated to NDL and we aim to provide users 10 times a year. To increase. He said that the NDLI platform is collaborative in nature and has increased its respect for contributing organizations which have made their digital repositories available for integration with NDLI.
