Online PAN Application: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman officially launched Aadhaar Card Based e-KYC Seva (Aadhaar Based E-KYC Service for Instant PAN) on Thursday 28 May 2020. In the Union Budget 2020, Finance Minister Shri Nirmala Sitharaman announced the immediate launch of the PAN facility soon. If you have an Aadhaar card and the mobile number is registered in the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) database, you can easily avail this facility.

CBDT has given detailed information about this. This scheme is named e-PAN. After the launch of this facility, now you can get your electronic PAN number for free without any fee. The scheme was initially launched on 12 February 2020 on a pilot basis by the Income Tax Department, but now after the approval of the Finance Ministry, it has been rolled out for all.



What is a PAN card?


PAN card is one of our important proof which we use for the bank, return file, loan, etc services. PAN Card contains a 10-digit alphanumeric number. which is available from Income Tax Department. PAN Card is made in India under the Income Tax Act, 1961 with a laminated card.

PAN Card stands for Permanent Account Number.




Where is the PAN card used?

1. A PAN card contains a name, photo, and signature so it can also be used as an identity card.

2. PAN card is mainly used to file income tax i.e. returns. The number shown on the PAN card is linked to your bank account to track all your transactions and prevent tax evasion.

3. By using a PAN card you can do other transactions like a PAN card becomes necessary when the salary of an employed person is more than 50 thousand because the salary has to be deposited in a direct bank itself.

4. Currently all banks require a PAN card along with an Aadhaar card so that there is no problem when your transactions go beyond 50 thousand in the future.


5. PAN card is considered as an important proof while building, buying or selling property. PAN card is used as proof of identity while taking a loan from the bank.

6. If you are an NRI you can easily buy a property with the help of a PAN card.

How to create an e-PAN Card?

And if you are in dire need of your PAN number today, then you don't need to worry at all, because today in this post we will give you all the information on how to generate PAN card (permanent account number) online in just 10 minutes. You can get your permanent account number i.e. PAN number from the comfort of your home with the help of your mobile phone, laptop or computer.

Earlier, only government employees could apply for PAN Card in Hindi, but now that is not the case at all, any individual, company, organization, etc. can apply for PAN.

An NRI person i.e. a person who is not a citizen of this country can also apply for PAN Card.

Step 1 : First go to the official website of the Income Tax Department -> incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2 : Now click on the Instant E-PAN option.

Step 3 : Click on Get New e-PAN button.

Step 4: A box will open in which enter the 12-digit Aadhaar card number and tick the given check box and click on the Continue button.

Step 5: OTP Validation box will open in which read the instructions and tick mark and click on the Continue button.

Step 6 : Tick the check box that otp will come on registrar's mobile number with Aadhaar card ContinueOTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.

You have 3 attempts to enter the correct OTP.

The OTP expiry countdown timer on the screen tells you when the OTP will expire.

On clicking Resend OTP, a new OTP will be generated and sent.

Step 7 : Validate the Aadhaar Details box will open in which check the information and accept the condition and tick mark Continue. Linking / validating your email ID (registered with your Aadhaar) is optional.

If you have updated your email ID in Aadhaar but it has not been validated, click on Validate Email. On the Validate Email ID page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and click Continue.

If you have not updated your email ID in Aadhaar, click on the link Email ID. On the Validate Email ID page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and click Continue.

Step 8 : Select & Update PAN Details box will open in which the message of Successfully e-PAN will be displayed.

Step 9 : The information may have been given through SMS on mobile which should be saved.



How to Check e-PAN Card Status? / How to download e-PAN Card?

Step 1 : First go to the official website of the Income Tax Department -> incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2 : Now click on the Instant E-PAN option.

Step 3 : Now click on the Continue button in the Check Status / Download PAN box.

Step 4 : Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar card number and click on the Continue button.

Step 5: Tick the check box that it will come on the registrar's mobile number with the Aadhaar card ContinueOTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.
