- The government will consider only two types of chargers
- Features Different chargers for phones and smartphones
- The European Union has now recognized the Type-C charger
Today's smart devices have changed people's lives. Nowadays it is impossible to think of any device without a battery. You may need to use different chargers for smartphones, feature phones, laptops or any other electronic appliance, and different brands and models also come with different chargers. But, soon you can get rid of this problem. The government is considering introducing only two types of charges. That means you will find only two types of charging ports in India. This will get rid of the problem of buying a new charger every time.
Type-C charging points
have recently taken such a step in the European Union. Now there will be only one charging port for electronic gadgets. The European Union has approved the Type-C charging port. This rule will have to be followed from next year. Something similar is expected to happen in India too.
Meeting to be held soon
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has called a meeting of all major industry associations and sector specific bodies. The meeting, to be held on August 17, will "discuss the possibility of eliminating the use of multiple charging for domestic use".
Separate chargers in feature phones
Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh wrote a letter to industry leaders in this regard last week. According to reports, Rohit said in the letter that majority of consumers in India use small and medium sized portable electronic devices. They have a Type-C charging port. A large number of users also use feature phones, which come with a separate charging port.
There will be only two types of charging ports
He said now is the time that we start working on the structure of 'only two types of charging points'. That means the charging port will be used for small and medium sized devices like smartphones, laptops, tablets, earbuds, speakers. Also, another type of charger will be used in the feature phone.
Apple will be the most affected
If the government implements this policy, it will have the most impact on Apple. Apple uses lightning cable in its smartphones. Not only that, Apple doesn't even provide a charger in the box with the iPhone and its biggest gain is the charger. In such a situation, due to Common Type-C or any other charging port, the company's business will be affected.
