Danger signals installed at ports of the state

Signal number 1 has been installed at various ports of the state keeping in view the forecast of the Meteorological Department. A signal number 1 has been installed at Veraval port. A number signal has been installed here following the forecast of the Meteorological Department. Also, signal number 1 has been installed at Dahej Port of Bharuch and Jafarabad Port of Amreli. Also fishermen have been instructed not to plow the sea. The system has been alerted due to the formation of a deep depression in the Arabian Sea.

The system has advised fishermen to be careful while fishing in the sea. Yesterday there were showers in the vicinity of Talala Gir. Even today, cloudy weather is being seen in the coastal area. Farmers are worried following the forecast of Meteorological Department.

Which number signal is applied when?

Depending on the speed of the offshore wind, a different number of signals are placed on the port. In particular, there are signals numbered 1 to 12 which are used to measure wind speed.

Signal No-01

This number signal is applied when the wind speed is 1 to 5 km, the wind is not very severe

Signal No-02

When the wind speed is between 6 and 12 km/h, signal number 2 is displayed over the port.

Signal No-03

This type of signal is issued when the wind speed is between 13 and 20 kmph.

Signal No-04

Signal number four is issued when the wind is blowing at a speed of 21 to 29 km/h on the coast.

Signal No-05

Signal number five is set over the harbor when the wind speed is 30 to 39 km/h.

Signal No-06

When the speed of the wind in the sea is 40 to 49 km, then the alarm number 6 signal is put on the port.

Signal No-07

When the speed of the prevailing wind is 50 to 61 km, signal number seven is placed over the port.

Signal No-08

When the wind speed is between 62 and 74 km/h in the sea or on the coast, a warning signal number eight is displayed on the port.

Signal No-09

When the wind speed is between 75 to 88 kmph, the alarm number 09 signal is displayed over the port.

Signal number-10

A signal number 10 is displayed over the port when the wind speed at sea is greater than 89 but not exceeding 102 km/h.

Signal number -11

The speed of gale-force winds over the sea ranges from 103 to 118 kmph. When the wind is blowing at such a speed, signal number 11 is put on the port.

Signal number-12

When the gale speed is between 119 and 220 km, signal number 12 is displayed over the port. Mostly signals up to 11 numbers are installed in India. Sometimes the number 12 signal is applied. Earlier it was decided to keep signals up to 17 numbers considering the speed of the wind. But most danger signal is used up to 12 numbers. In India, signals up to 11 numbers are generally used.
